sangria_recipes.jpgSangria is a punch made from wine; any party is incomplete unless sangria is added to the menu. Sangria is an innovative drink and can be easily experimented with.

Some of the recipes given are innovations to the original classic Sangria’s.

Passion fruit sangria

Pineapple and passion fruit make an unforgettable combination with a sweet white wine. Just mix and devour the pure magic of this mix f intoxication.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Bottle of sweet white wine (Muscat, Sweet Riesling, Gewurztraminer)
  • 1 Lemon cut into wedges
  • 1 Orange cut into wedges
  • 1 Lime cut into wedges
  • 2 Cups Passion Fruit juice
  • 2 Cups Pineapple juice
  • 1 Cup Ginger ale
  • 1 Kiwi fruit

PREPARATION:

Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and add passion fruit juice and pineapple juice.

Chill overnight. Add ginger ale and thinly sliced kiwi fruit just before serving.

If you’d like to serve right away, use chilled white wine and serve over lots of ice.

 

Strawberry sangria- a rose wine sangria

Love strawberry daiquiris? And love wine? Well this is one heavenly drink for you. It makes the most of the sweet fruits of summer and the delight is conveyed by mixing it in the wine of the summer i.e. Rose. Served in summer, this is one of the most delicious sangria’s to consume and enjoy.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Bottle (750 ml) of Rosé wine (to keep to the Spanish origins of Sangrias you may opt for a Rosé from Spain, a Rosado)
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups strawberry lemonade
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries (may use frozen strawberries in a pinch)
  • 1 cup club soda or lemon lime soda

PREPARATION:

Pour wine in the pitcher and add sliced strawberries. Next add sugar, strawberry lemonade and stir gently. Add club soda and ice just before serving.

If you’d like to serve your Sangria right away, use chilled white wine and club soda - serve over lots of ice.

Party sangria

This is the perfect party recipe and everyone will be left asking for more, so think of maybe doubling the recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
  • 1 Lemon cut into wedges
  • 1 Orange cut into wedges
  • 1 Lime cut into wedges
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • Splash of orange juice
  • 2 Shots of gin
  • 1 Cup of sliced strawberries or raspberries (may use thawed or frozen)
  • 1 Small can of diced pineapples (with juice)
  • 4 Cups ginger ale

PREPARATION:

Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and pineapple then add sugar, orange juice and gin.
